One of the gifts I received from my twin pregnancy, in addition to two adorable baby boys, was a whole bunch of foot problems. My pregnancy was pretty uneventful, partly due to my plan to pamper myself and take it easy. I quickly accepted taking nausea medication at the first sign of it with the twins, after suffering through a medication-free pregnancy with Bijou. I visited the chiropractor twice a month as a preventative measure to sciatica which I had had with Bijou and managed to avoid with the twins. I had regular acupuncture treatments to ease my fear of the babies coming too early (I went full term). Things were good and the babies were healthy.
The one thing I overlooked... a good pair of shoes. I wore my cheap Havaiana thongs nearly the entire time and I paid the price for it. The arch started to fall on my right foot and my left foot started to get a bunion. "That isn't what I think it is?!" I wondered, looking down at the growing bump on my foot. Indeed, it turned out to be what I had feared. The worst part is these things aren't going to go away or get better. The only thing I can do is wear good shoes to try and prevent them from getting worse.
So now it's me and the Baby Boomers browsing the selection of sensible foot ware at The Walking Company. So in my sandal roundup for the summer, I've included a few sensible picks that also pass the cuteness test.
