Winter Play Dough

Some of us won't be blessed this year with a white Christmas but that isn't any reason to deprive the kids of building snowmen over their winter break.  This icy-looking play dough recipe will make building snowmen almost as fun as the real thing.

1 cup water

1 Tbsp. vegetable oil

1/2 cup salt

1 Tbsp. cream of tartar

2 drops of blue food coloring

Mix and heat the above ingredients in a saucepan until warm.  Turn off the heat and add 1 cup of flour and 2 drops of essential peppermint oil (optional) and 2 Tbsp of silver glitter. Mix with a wooden spoon and when the mixture is cool enough to touch, knead any flour clumps out with your fingers.

We were hopeful we might get a little snow this Christmas, we have certainly had many frosty mornings.  However, the current forecast for December 25th is rain. Boo!
